- Stud finder (for locating wall studs)
- Tape measure (for precise placement)
- Level (to keep things straight)
- Pencil (for marking)
- Drill (with appropriate bits)
- Wall anchors or toggle bolts (for drywall installations)
- Screws or heavy-duty hooks
- Picture hanging wire or D-rings (if not already attached)
- Optional: painter’s tape, helper (for large or awkward pieces)

Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Choose Your Spot
- Consider lighting, furniture placement, and eye level (typically 57–60 inches from the floor to the center of the piece).
- For mirrors, think about what it will reflect—natural light, art, or clutter?
2. Find the Studs
- Use a stud finder to locate wooden studs behind drywall. Mark them lightly with a pencil.
- Hanging directly into a stud is ideal for heavier items.
3. Measure & Mark
- Measure the distance between the hanging hardware on the back of your piece.
- Transfer those measurements to the wall, using a level to ensure alignment.
- Mark the drill points with a pencil.
4. Choose the Right Hardware
- Into studs? Use screws or heavy-duty hooks.
- No studs? Use wall anchors or toggle bolts rated for the weight of your item.
- Check packaging for weight limits—better safe than shattered.
5. Drill & Install Anchors
- Drill pilot holes at your marked points.
- Insert wall anchors or toggle bolts if needed.
- Screw in your hooks or screws, leaving a bit of space for hanging.
6. Hang Your Piece
- Attach picture wire or D-rings if not already in place.
- Carefully lift and hang the item. Use a level to adjust as needed.
- For mirrors, double-check stability—especially if placed near high-traffic areas.
7. Admire & Adjust
- Step back and admire your handiwork.
- Make minor tweaks for symmetry or alignment.
- Celebrate with a cup of tea or a victory dance.
Pro Tips
- For extra security, use two hooks spaced apart to distribute weight evenly.
- Use painter’s tape to visualize placement before committing.
- If you’re hanging above furniture, leave 6–8 inches of clearance.
