Does your sink smell? If so, here is a simple solution!

Vinegar & baking soda. Both of these are natural deodorizers & will help de-stink your sink. What you have to do is pour a quarter of a cup of baking soda down the drain & then follow it up with a quarter cup of vinegar. Afterwards give it time, (approximately one day) & in the morning rinse it all away with boiling water. The solution will bring all gunk, & junk, to the top, removing the smell as well.

    Clogs

These same two products, baking soda & vinegar, can also help clear drains! These products are unlike harsh chemical drain cleaners in that they do not contain caustic, corrosive ingredients that can be awful on your pipes. First, what you should do is boil water & pour it down the drain. This will get rid of most of the grease. Then pour half a cup of baking soda down the drain & follow it up with half a cup of vinegar. This should do the trick & rid your drain of all clogs. & hear the sizzle of it all, as the ingredients do their magic on your drains! Burn away that smelliness & other festering junk that's inside.

The varying options for the material of your bathroom sink are amazing; ceramic, woods, metals & stones. Let's consider the durability & maintenance of each.

Ceramic: A type of pottery that is formed & fired in a kiln. This medium is very durable; it is resistant to scratching & chipping making ceramic sinks good for everyday use. Ceramic sinks are easily maintained, because of the hard smooth surface, you can wipe with a soft cloth after use. Regular cleaning with a non-abrasive cleaner & soft cloth will keep the sink.

Porcelain: The hardest of clays is heated in a kiln at 1,200 to 1,400 degrees; this process makes the clay less porous & dense. Maintenance for a porcelain sink is relatively easy, wipe sink daily with a soft cloth to prevent soap scum, grease & dirt build up. Use a non abrasive cleaner & a soft cloth for regular cleaning.

Natural Stone: Each stone sink is a one of a kind. They are made from a single piece of stone & shaped into a basin. Each will have its own distinct color & veining. As soon as you sink is installed put a sealer on it & repeat once or twice a year to maintain the surface. There are special instructions to installing a stone sink, do not use oil-based sealers or plumber's putty they will cause staining. It is recommended that a mild dish detergent or stone cleaner be use for cleaning with a soft cloth. After each use you should wipe dry to prevent iron, salt, lime or soap build up.

Stainless Steel: is resistant to rust & stains because it contains a small amount of chromium. This is the most common sink we come across. A stainless steel sink is completely recyclable; it contains about 60% of recycled materials. Stainless sinks are very durable because they are stain resistance. To maintain the sink, clean daily with mild soap & soft cloth. Do not leave steel cookware or utensils in sink for long periods of time because they cause rust stains.

    Wood Sinks
Teak: Is tropical hardwood that is moisture resistant & is great for a bathroom environment. I personally haven't seen one in the wild. Teak is great to add a natural look to your bathroom. Maintaining your teak sink is simple; use a non-scouring product & a mild soap with a soft cloth.

Bamboo: It is a grass like tree which is very durable & renewable, it is the fastest growing tree making it very eco-friendly to use bamboo. Like all natural products the color & veining will vary making each sink unique. Clean regularly with non-abrasive cleaner & soft cloth.

Resin: Also known as man-made stone is made of a poly-resin blend. This process enables you to cast a sink in many different designs & colors. To maintain the sink use a mild soap & soft cloth to help maintain the stain resistance. Be sure to avoid acids or ammonia.

Bronze: Is a durable, unique addition to any kitchen or bathroom. Over time will take on a patina depending on the care. Maintenance consists of cleaning with mild soap & a soft cloth, wiping everyday will help keep the look you desire.

Glass: Tempered glass is created by treating the glass by controlled thermal or chemical methods. This glass is much stronger than regular glass making it. You can get a variety of colors & shapes with glass. Maintenance is simple, dry & clean everyday using a soft cloth.

Do you need plumbers putty to install a faucet?

A plumber’s putty works the same way with a rubber or a plastic gasket. Whichever you opt for, ensure that they are correctly fixed to avoid any kind of leaks.
