When fixing a broken sliding patio door, there are a few tools that you may find yourself in need of, usually. These would include a solid 4-in-1 screwdriver, a few rags, a pocket knife or other utility knife, a prying bar, a screen-roller, a corded drill & preferably an Allen wrench. You'll also want some lubricant of silicone, a few replacement rollers for backup, & the new premium screen door you're going to put in to replace the old one, of course.
You'll need to adjust the rollers to help tune up that balky door. Don't forget this very important step, overall. You will also wish to remove any stop molding that's been in the way, & then follow up by next lifting that door & bringing it out of its spot, carefully. Remove it. You'll also want to replace the rollers. After that, comes the fun part – you get to then replace that screen door, with the utmost of delicacy & precision, taking your time; keep in mind the door body's thickness, the details of the extruded frame, the durablity of the corner supports on the door (if any), & other factors. Pay close attention to all the details. After you've carefully replaced the rollers first, making sure they're a perfect size & fit, then followed by the door itself, you should test everything out. Move the new sliding glass door open & close it a few times, back & forth each way, to make sure it flows well & nothing comes loose or fails to move or function.
