It typically takes less than 2 hours to install a toilet DIY, & with intermediate diffculty altogether. Locate the toilet's shutoff valve, which you'll need to engage in order to prevent the water from flowing or flushing, your first step. & this type of valve is usually found right beside the toilet, or behind or underneath it, respectively, connected to the wall or floor surrounding it. Once you've found it, & turned off the water, flush the toilet to make sure all water gets drained – if the shutoff valve is currently turned off, the water in the toilet bown, at this point, will not refill, & you may continue with the process.
You will then need to engage a few other steps in the process, such as using a wrench (an adjustable one) to disconnect the supply line for the water & toilet. Lift the tank, & its bowl, next, & unbolt them right out of the floor. Following this, see if there's any caulking applied right around the base of the bowl itself, making a short mental note of what you find.
Check around the flange, next (the bolt, mainly). Inspect that flange carefully to see if there's been any damage. Put a brand-new wax ring on. Put the bowl back on the flange & secure the toilet. Properly attach the bowl & tank. & as an option, you can pick a toilet seat you like, & place it on there.
