If an electric garbage disposal has been jammed, there is one of several ways to fix it. One such way is as follows… First, check to see if the electricity continues to flow to the product. You can do this by going to the central electric panel & having a look at the fuses or circuit brakers connected to it. If this option should fail, & power is still not restored to the garbage disposal, then flip the wall switch connected to the disposer. After that, turn off the switch right away, should you hear the motor on the disposer making a humming noise – unplug the disposer.
Next, find a hole in the shape of a hex, at the disposer's bottom. Put the Allen wrench inside of there (the wrench that should have come with the full product). With the wrench, manually turn that motor shaft, in a counterclockwise direction, followed by a counterclockwise turn, until you've managed to fully dislodge the obstruction in the garbage disposal. But if it's still jammed, then use a special-quality “garbage disposer wrench” to finish the job. It is usually sold at Lowe's or Home Depot & comes with its own instructions for use.
