When trying to remove old fascia board & put new board in, start by securing a firm, steady ladder up against the roof of the house. Get up as close as you can to where the faulty fascia boards lie. Grab the claw-like end on your hammer & make sure to properly pry, all the way out from the rafters, that bad board(s). Measure this board(s) you have just removed, mainly in terms of length, keeping in mind the same measurements needed for the replacement board(s). Cut the next board(s) out to the desired length.
Right up against the rafter ends, is where the next nrw board needs to go, placed there firmly. After placing it there, make sure everything's nice & tight, especially up against that house's roofline, respectively. Butt the new board(s) very tightly, especially when doing so, against adjacent boards. That's how you should do so, anyway.
You'll want to put a nail – firmly driven – into three unique areas, next : into each fascia board's top, into its bottom also, & last but not least, right into its rafter. Any other rafters also making contact with these boards should, at some point, get nails driven into them as well. Make sure there are nails in each & all of them.
