* Garbage disposals
are found in nearly every home now. Newer models do not use sharp
blades inside, but rather a set of hammers on a rotor that fling the
food particles to the sides against a grater repeatedly until they have
been completely broken down.
* A great way to
clean a garbage disposal is to put half a lemon, a handful of ice
cubes, and some baking soda down the drain, and run the disposal. This
will eliminate smells and break down left over food and gunk.
* If not properly taken care of, motors can burn out, seals can leak,
and electrical failure within the appliance can occur. Professional
attention is required for most repairs because of the mixing presence
of electricity and water.
